Dear Editor:

What makes a community is diversity in the people that live there. Citizens of varied personal interests, economic status, religious beliefs and ethnicity enhance the fabric of a place and make it culturally, socially and politically rich.

If we want a town that has a feeling of community, we must have a place for everyone regardless of economic status. The Salida Crossing planned development is a start.

Mr. Brown served on Mayor LiVecchi’s Affordable Housing Task Force. Of course they both know the serious housing shortage that exists in Salida.

I ask Mr. Brown and Mr. LiVecchi to reconsider their referendum. Please do the right thing for the citizens who are so important for our town. Please do not submit your petition.

Thanks for reading,
Chuck Rose, Salida
