The Salida Council for the Arts (SCFTA) will host a significant benefit concert to support its 2020 programs. The concert is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Salida SteamPlant Event Center. Acoustic Eidolon (pronounced ‘idle-on’) makes their first appearance in Chaffee County with their performance in Salida to kickoff the inaugural ‘Art Lovers Gifting Campaign.’

This benefit concert is the start of SCFTA’s Inaugural Art Lover Gifting Campaign, which runs through April 1, 2020, and has a goal of $10,000. That $10,000 is needed to fully fund all the Council’s programs, events and operating costs. SCFTA, an all-volunteer organization with a broad reach in the area, relies on contributions from members of the community and local businesses. “We already have exciting support taking us halfway to our goal – that key sponsor will be revealed at the Dec. 10 Acoustic Eidolon concert,” said SCFTA President Sue Ann Hum.

She added, “Music education is very important to Salida Council for the Arts. Several sponsors are underwriting the overhead for these two appearances. We give thanks and applause to the City of Salida, Tenderfoot Health Collective, 50 Burger, Uptown Grill, Pinon Vacation Rentals, Perfect Shot Photography, Vely Agency, LLC and Box of Bubbles.”

Acoustic Eidolon is a husband and wife team on cello and a guitar. Scott on the double-neck ‘guitjo’ and Hannah Alkire on cello are from Colorado and have graced stages throughout the U.S., Europe, Australia and Canada.

The Salida Council for the arts commented, “With 11 CDs and a DVD to their credit, these masterful artists continue to captivate audiences throughout the world with their signature ‘new acoustic’ sound and boundless possibilities in blending Celtic, Americana, World & Flamenco musical influences; something that Dirty Linen Magazine praises as “a sumptuous musical feast.”

“They are currently performing numerous shows in Norway and Germany. They’ll head back home (to Colorado) in early December,” according to Hum.

“Their Salida appearance is slated between shows at Glen Eyrie Castle in Colorado Springs and another at Denver’s Swallow Hill Music Center. We are honored to bring such unique talent to Salida. More than just a concert, their unforgettable ‘new acoustic’ music will carry you away, adding magic to the season you’ll want to share with family, friends and out-of-town guests. An Acoustic Eidolon performance can best be described as ‘Passion on Strings’!”

Tickets for the show are available online through Eventbrite and at the SteamPlant Box Office and are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
