After a year of pandemic, Chaffee County is ready to celebrate and the FIBArk’s land races are back for the 2021 festival. Below is a list of dates and times as well as a description of each event. Those interested in participating must sign up before each event. Click here to register. Those interested in volunteering for an event are asked to contact SalidaRaces@cityofsalida.com.

FIBArk Hill Climb

From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17 the FIBArk Hill Climb will take place, starting at the F Street Caboose. This one-of-a-kind race is a signature kick-off to FIBArk events.

This year the start location has been moved to begin at the Caboose in the parking lot at the end of F Street. Participants run and scramble straight up Tenderfoot (“S” Mountain) and back down. In past years the winners have done it in less than 12 minutes. Prizes go to the top three male and female competitors. All participants qualify for bragging rights!

Registration closes on Thursday, June 17 at 12:00 noon. Packet pick-up and check-in will open at 5:00 p.m. on June 17.

FIBArk 5k/10k Road Races

From 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday June 19, the FIBArk 5k/10k Road Races will begin at  Thonhoff Park. These two courses are on county roads/paved trails, starting and finishing near the County Courthouse. Medals will be given to the top three male and female competitors, as well as the top three male and female athletes in each category.

The races will start at 8:00 a.m. FIBArk will also host a free, untimed kid’s one-mile fun run at approximately 8:30 a.m. at Thonoff Park. Registration closes on Friday, at 10:00 p.m. on June 18. Packet pick-up and check-in will begin at 7:00 a.m. on June 19.

FIBArk 10k Trail Run

At 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 20, the  FIBArk 10k Trail Run takes off. The 10K trail run will take participants behind Tenderfoot Mountain on the Arkansas Hills Trail System. The terrain is varied, including dirt roads and single track.

The trail run is also the final of the Triple Crown Competition. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers.Registration closes on at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 Packet pick-up and check in will begin at 7:00 a.m. on June 20.

Mountain bike races

Mountain bike race categories include Expert, Single speed, sport, beginner, and kids races on the Arkansas Trail System. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each category.

Registration closes at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. The event start times run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. on Sunday, June 20. Click here to register
