The United States Air Force Academy Band will put on “America the Beautiful,” in Riverside Park in Salida, at the Rotary Amphitheatre beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 30.

The free, early-Independence Day concert is just one of six concerts the band will be performing during the week of the 4th of July. Starting in Salida on June 30, the Air Force Academy Band will also visit Grand Junction, Telluride, Montrose, Monument and Dillon, through July 4.

The group performing in Salida is just one of nine ensembles in the Air Force Academy. It is manned by 40 active-duty professionals who along with performing, also recruit for the band, often make appearances on radio and television broadcasts. The band also participates in community outreach events, such as this America the Beautiful concert, providing educational performances and clinics at national music conferences.

According to the United States Air Force Academy Personnel/Concert Band: “For over 60 years, the Academy Band has used the power of music to honor our nation’s heroes, inspire Air Force personnel, and the nation they serve, produce innovative musical programs and products and communicate Air Force excellence to millions around the world. The United States Air Force Academy Concert Band appears on behalf of Lt. Gen. Jay B. Silveria, superintendent, Unites States Air Force Academy.”
