Prepare for a good old-fashioned Texas heatwave this Saturday, August 3 as the award-winning Ally Venable brings her blistering blues band to the Lariat in Buena Vista.

Texas-born and raised, Venable started singing in her church at the age of 12 but says she soon fell in love with the devil’s music. Picking up a loaded six-string, Venable began her journey to becoming an authentic Texas guitar slinger and songwriter.

For the better part of a decade, Venable has been igniting the Texas blues circuit with her sweltering brand of gritty, driving rock ‘n’ roll. In 2014 and 2015, Vennable took home the East Texas Music (ETX) Awards for “Female Guitarist of the Year” and won “Blues Band of the Year” from 2015-2017. In 2018, Venable was awarded “Entertainer of the Year” at the ETX Music Awards, adding yet another jewel in her Texas blues crown.

Featured in the likes of Guitar Player Magazine, Venable is a compelling singer/songwriter and savage lead guitarist with bluesy chops that would make any Delta blues player blush. Her straightforward and ripping slide work is simple, yet compelling; compared to a modern-day Alanis Morissette with an electric guitar, Venable’s Southern rock swagger executes white girl blues with finesse and power.

The depth of Venable’s soul and blues prowess landed her 2018 album Puppet Show at #7 on the Billboard Blues Charts and instant national exposure. Soon her power trio (sometimes a four-piece) began to become a household name in blues circles and mainstream music.

Venable’s 2019 album Texas Honey is a showcase of southern rock ‘n’ roll grit blended with country-pop undertones. The title track is both playful and catchy with Venable shredding the guitar work to pieces. Despite her soft smile, Venable rocks just as hard as the boys and delivers a lesson in the blues with every live performance.

One of the brightest rising stars in the modern blues and rock ‘n’ roll community, the Ally Venable Band delivers a powerful, yet sensual, live experience sure to kick your blues down the road.
