The Ark Valley Voice “Christmas in July (and August) Give Campaign” has almost reached our goal. As of this morning, we stand at $9,529 — less than five hundred more dollars to reach our $10,000 goal.

While we had some fun with the campaign, and readers may have chuckled over our flamingos in Santa hats, and rated our Hawaiian shirts and reindeer antlers, the fun has an underlying purpose.

One hundred percent of the give campaign donations go to our journalist fund — and helps support our ability to deliver quality, fact-based journalism.

When we began in 2018, we had no idea that within less than three years we would have covered a local wildfire, an ongoing pandemic, the region’s housing shortage, and the mental health crisis, in addition to regular reporting. We have written more than 5,000 news stories about our Central Colorado community, become part of the Colorado News Collaborative, and won seven Colorado Press Association awards for our investigative journalism.

But the fact that we are this close to our goal says just as much about our faithful readers as it does about us:

  • Who tell us they believe in us, and who believe as we do that integrity and truth matter
  • Who ask questions that become story ideas
  • Who correct us when we make a mistake
  • Who challenge our assumptions
  • Who make us better every day

We are so grateful for each and every one of you.

Underlying our promise that ‘Truth has a Voice’ is this commitment: to provide quality, fact-based journalism because we believe the people of the Upper Arkansas Valley deserve to know the truth about important issues affecting our communities.

Even if you’ve never considered supporting a news media before — if even one of our news stories has touched you in these past months, please consider supporting us with a donation to help us reach this goal — and to continue producing the news that can inform your daily life. Thank you!
