The popular Angel of Shavano Car Show, Aug. 3 at Riverside Park, drew hundreds of auto enthusiasts to view the many newer and classic autos on display.
The event is a benefit for the Chaffee County Search and Rescue South (CCSARS) organization, which receives no tax dollars for their life-saving work. It is staffed entirely by volunteers, who also do fundraising to garner the many levels of motorized equipment and climbing gear they need to perform their rescue work.
The top seven prize winners posed with their trophies after the event. The winners included Steve Goebel, Alamosa with a 1970 Dodge Challenger RT; Bill Brunell, Salida with a 1969 Chevy Camaro; Kenneth Frederick, Buena Vista with a 1957 Olds Super 88 Holiday Coupe and Lynn Croker, Montrose with a 1967 Chevy Camaro.
Also coming in as winners were Darin and Maureen Santi, Colorado Springs with a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra 429 SCJ; Frank Guccione, Canon City with a 1965 Pontiac GTO; and Brad Leach of Salida, with a 1969 Ford Mustang.
