It’s hard to believe that it’s time to think about the upcoming winter holidays, but the Salida Sunrise Rotary has reminded us that the club will be coordinating its Holiday Park display again this year in Riverside Park. Proceeds from adopting a tree for “Holiday Park” help fund the Rotary fund local scholarships.

This year the theme is “The Nutcracker”, chosen to align with the theme of the 2022 Parade of Lights.

This festive Salida tradition invites members of the community to adopt and decorate one of the club’s Christmas trees within Riverside Park. This can be done to remember loved ones or for a local business or nonprofit to build awareness of its services. Proceeds from Holiday Park tree “adoptions” are used to fund local scholarships from Salida Sunrise Rotary’s Charitable Fund.

Adoption applications have been sent to all previous participants and are also available at the Salida Chamber of Commerce at 406 West US Highway 5 in Salida. Holiday Park adoption forms can also be found in The Mountain Mail or downloaded from www.SalidaSunriseRotary.com.

According to this year’s Holiday Park coordinator Janet Franz, “Salida Sunrise Rotary is very excited about bringing ‘The Nutcracker’ theme to the park this year. We hope our community will enjoy this beautiful story as they wander through Riverside Park and enjoy the fun and festive Holiday Park trees, lights, and decorations.”

The Salida Sunrise Rotary Club also appreciates the support of Altamont Landscaping, The Mountain Mail, and the Scouts from Troop 60 for their help with Holiday Park this year.

Questions about tree adoptions can be directed to Julie Richardson at 913-209-3960. Completed adoption applications should be mailed back to Salida Sunrise Rotary Club, PO Box 1044, Salida, CO 81201 by Wednesday, November 16, 2022.
