Ark Valley Voice has experienced a cyber crime by an unauthorized user, who used an unauthorized back door into the Ark Valley Voice Facebook page overnight March 24, removing the official AVV administrators and blocked us from posting any further news articles on our own Facebook page. A few hours later, the perpetrator took down the original Ark Valley Voice Facebook page.

This activity has been reported to the FBI, and local Chaffee county law enforcement. The FBI has classified it as an interstate cybercrime and is investigating.

Ark Valley Voice, as a news organization and a member of the Colorado Press Association, is considered an essential service during the national and state response to the coronavirus pandemic. This makes the act of interfering with our ability to get out important news and information, during what Governor Jared Polis has declared to be a state disaster emergency, even more serious.

This has left hundreds of people, who normally access our AVV stories first from their Facebook feeds, without information at a time when our country is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic that threatens our lives and safety.

In fact, late this afternoon Colorado Governor Jared Polis issued a “Shelter in Place order” for the entire state of Colorado, that we have not been able to share until recently. It begins at 6 a.m. March 26 and runs through April 11.

Ark Valley Voice has set up a new Facebook page to help distribute our news stories: https://www.facebook.com/ArkValleyVoiceCO .

If you were a follower of our social media  posts, or are new to the social media space, we encourage you to go to the page and follow us. We apologize to those who could not find us this afternoon. We are back in the social media space where you expect us!

We hope that all our readers can help us get the word out — please share this news across your own social media pages so that our social media followers can find us.

As always, 24/7 you can come to www.arkvalleyvoice.com directly for information to help you make decisions for your own health and safety. During this pandemic AVV has set up an entire COVID-19 special section — https://arkvalleyvoice.com/covid-19-current-news-and-information/

Please tell your friends, and help us get out the word – Truth still does have a voice!

Thank you,

The Crew at Ark Valley Voice
