This week Ark Valley Voice received word that we have been selected to receive an additional grant match from an anonymous foundation as part of the 2022 NewsMatch Give Campaign now underway. This foundation is supporting newsrooms upholding democracy through their coverage of elections, voting rights, and local and statewide government.

Our selection for this $4,000 goal-based grant has come completely out of the blue. Ark Valley Voice (AVV) learned that over the past several months the foundation has been reviewing nonprofit newsrooms’ coverage of election issues and journalistic stance on democracy across the nation. They tell us that we were selected based on our commitment to fact-based journalism, transparency, and First Amendment support.

The anonymous foundation, represented by the Miami Foundation, will make this award based on a goal-based match: once we raise $4,000 in community donations – this grant will double the first $4,000 of our NewsMatch grant challenge … representing a double match of community donations.

What this means is: every dollar up to $4,000 in donations we receive will be matched not just once by the NewsMatch giving campaign, but matched again by this foundation grant – for a total of $12,000 – all of which goes to support our working journalists.

As our readers have heard, during this November 15 through December 31 NewsMatch giving campaign — our community donation goal is $15,000. If we can reach that goal, the NewsMatch grant through the Institute for Nonprofit News together with the Lenfest Institute will match that amount.

The AVV Crew is honored by this acknowledgment the quality of our journalism. The support is much needed if we are to continue to meet our mission to give truth a voice; offering news digitally and at no charge to a broad audience of readers.

We don’t tell you what to think, but we hope we give you things to think about. If you’ve been on the sidelines, we hope you will become a contributing member to AVV during this NewsMatch Give Challenge – and especially during this opportunity to triple the impact of your donation. Just click on one of the AVV give campaign donate buttons on our news site and it will take you to the donation portal.

Our gratitude for the support of our readers and those who value truth and democracy is immeasurable.
