Today we announce that Ark Valley Voice has been selected for an important NewsMatch grant. If we can raise $15,000 in community contributions to support this newsroom between November 15 and December 31, 2022, we will receive a $15,000 National NewsMatch Award to fund newsroom operations.

This major NewsMatch award has been made possible by our membership in the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) and our shift to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit structure in August of this year. It represents a growing recognition of our role as a fact-based and independent news media, dedicated to the mission that “truth has a voice.”

This is the fourth year that Ark Valley Voice, launched in March 2018,  will participate in a NewsMatch award recognizing our quality journalism. For the past three years, we have received a $5,000 matching grant from the Colorado Media Project, because this community and our readers have matched that amount, and more. This year, for the first time we have qualified for a National NewsMatch grant that is triple what we have achieved in prior years, coordinated by INN and the Lensfest Institute.

While we remain available to our readers at no cost, it is a fact that hard-hitting journalism isn’t free. We can keep our independent perspective by having a wide base of donor-subscribers willing to support a quality media outlet like Ark Valley Voice.

As we continue to grow, we need your tax-deductible support to sustain this media project for the long haul. As we near the grant-qualifying weeks between November 15 and December 31, we hope that you will begin to consider what it has meant at this moment in time to have access to unbiased news that tells you the truth, and investigates what needs to be investigated. Beginning November 15, we hope you will consider becoming a monthly supporter, or a community partner.
