Ark Valley Voice 2022 Summer Fundraiser is 10 Percent of the Way toward its Goal

When Ark Valley Voice announced two weeks ago that it has become a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we explained that our annual summer fund drive was delayed a few weeks so that donations to our mission to ensure that truth has a voice are now 100 percent tax-deductible.

Well — they are. But donations are a bit anemic and we’ve got a ways to go. So — because 100 percent of donations go to journalists’ wages and actual newsroom support, we thought we should tell you that funding local news can be done in more than one way.

We believe, and readers tell us, that the news we produce and make available regardless of readers’ ability to pay — is a critical component of an informed population:

  • In a year when fact-based and unbiased news is more important than ever,
  • In a time when disinformation coming from unsourced social media sites is rampant,
  • In a time when people are confusing political theater with real support for our democracy and the rule of law,
  • In an election year filled with ballot questions,
  • In a time when our challenges such as workforce housing, climate change, and planning how to grow and preserve the beauty and openness of our valley require more in-depth coverage than ever;

We believe the need for Ark Valley Voice journalism is more important than ever.

The combination of solid, local news coverage from professional journalists with the talent, tenacity, and curiosity to give you information to make you think, the space for debate, and respectful comment, add up to our commitment that truth should and does have a voice.

Membership has contribution levels

Now that Ark Valley Voice is a nonprofit, you can become a member in the AVV mission at any level, from a one-time donation to membership as an AVV Community Partner.

Donations to AVV do a lot of things:

  • Cover journalists’ wages — this is the number one need
  • Help pay our media liability insurance
  • Cover the cost of our newsroom cloud storage and tech support
  • Make fact-based news available to all, not just those who can afford it.
