The Chaffee County Clerk and Recorder’s Office reported Wednesday evening that it has already received 5,301 mail ballots back, representing 39 percent of the total ballots mailed out. On Oct. 31 alone it received 809 ballots, the highest to date for any day of early voting.

Thirty people chose to walk in and vote in person.
