The works of Buena Vista artist Stuart Codington Andrews is featured in an exhibit of his western landscape oil paintings at the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center through June 30.

Andrews, a self-educated painter, utilizes oil, acrylic and mixed media to create pieces highlighting dreams, pop culture, alpine life and a love of the mountains, drawing on techniques from art history.

“This exhibit is focused on my summer office where I work as a fly fishing guide. Whether high in the backcountry or knee-deep in the river, the romance of the Western landscape never fails to captivate,” said Andrews.

“Often there is a tale or anecdote connected to each image, open to interpretation by the viewers. I explore these collisions of ideas and events, creating a timeless window to each story,” he added.

All of Andrew’s paintings in the hospital exhibit are for sale, and 25 percent of the proceeds are donated to the HRRMC Foundation. More of his work can be viewed at www.viewgallery.com. HRRMC displays the work of regional artists, with an emphasis on the Arkansas Valley. For more information on exhibiting art at HRRMC, call 719-530-2217.
