Morgan Mahala, of the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce provided the following statement to Ark Valley Voice regarding the Chamber’s investigation of an unsubstantiated allegation of one of their board members:
“The Board of Directors for the BV Chamber of Commerce recently received several allegations concerning the conduct of one of our Board Members and the Board’s handling of recent organizational changes. In response, the Board investigated the specific allegations, consulted with an attorney and conducted an independent review of the BV Chamber’s books and records for the last three years.
Based upon our investigation and the independent review, we have concluded that the accusations were unsupported by the facts.
Please stay tuned in 2019 as we continue to roll out exciting improvements to the organization and new member benefits. Thank you to the BV community for your continued support.
The Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce”
Editor’s note: The complaints surfaced in November during the Chamber’s first Member’s Round table over the reorganization of chamber functions and staff roles. A testy exchange ensued between Erin Godonis, at that time not a member of the BV Chamber, and the board over the departure of the previous executive director. Shortly thereafter, an unknown person created fake Facebook pages that attempted to spread rumors about the chamber board on the Chaffee County Democrats Facebook page.
