The Buena Vista Public Library at 131 Linderman Ave. has released its public programming schedule for April, featuring a wide variety of programs for Adults and Youth alike. Once again, the Buena Vista Library proves that libraries are not just for reading — they are cultural learning centers.

New for adults this month are sessions on Drip Irrigating, Caregiving Conversations, Renter’s Rights, and Chakra Activation and Sound Therapy.

In addition to ongoing programs, youth of all ages have a crowd-pleasing expedition with Destination Story Time and their visit to  Souled Out T-Shirts.

Adult Programming:

Introduction to Drip Irrigating **NEW**
10:00 a.m. — 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 1
Colorado Master Gardeners teach the basics of setting up a drip irrigation system. Learn the benefits of drip irrigation, review the required components, and assemble a drip system for your own garden. All supplies provided. Limit 20. Registration required

Before the Time Comes: Caregiving Conversations **NEW**
11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 11:30 a.m.
Prepare for a senior living solution. Local author Monica Young introduces conversations family caregivers need to have with their aging parents.

Renter’s Rights: Ask an Attorney ***NEW***
5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20
Get answers to questions about renter’s rights and other civil matters. Learn about the legal rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants in this one-hour class.

Chakra Activation and Sound Therapy **NEW**
5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 25
Relax and balance the body through gentle movement, breathwork, and meditation. Then, enjoy a sound bath to release tension. Sound therapy uses vibrations or frequencies to aid in mental and physical health. (If you are sensitive to noise, this may not be a good choice for relaxation.)

  • Iran at a Crossroads:

By the fall of 2022, Iran was in a state of turmoil due to widespread protests against government-enforced wearing of the hijab, a failing economy, an ineffective new president, and the looming succession of the country’s leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.

Destination Story Time: Souled Out T-Shirts

Hear a few fun stories and watch both the printing press and embroidery machine at work! Make your own fashion design with patterns and crayons.

Tunes for Tots

Shake, Rattle & Roll

Audience: Ages 2-5
Toddlers learn by moving, so help your little ones develop balance, strength, and agility in this diverse class! Children, ages 2-5, and caregivers experience a variety of dance and movement activities.

Kamera Kids
This class is full. Please call the Library at 719-395-8700 to be added to the wait list.
3:30 p.m., Wednesdays, April 5 – May 17
Audience: Ages 8 – 12
Participants gain an introduction to basic photography skills in this 7-part class. Practice capturing images of the local area during walking trips to McPhelemy Park, downtown/Main street Buena Vista, and Columbine Park.
