The Buena Vista Board of Trustees will begin their Tuesday, May 9 meeting with two work sessions:

From 4:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., Trustees will tour the Fading West Factory for a look at the type of affordable housing units that might be chosen for Buena Vista housing projects. From 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the board will review and discuss the Carbonate Street Project deed restrictions. It should be noted that the board will not make decisions during the Work Sessions.

During its regular meeting which begins at 7:00 p.m. a major business item will be the continued discussion over setting usage standards for the possession of tobacco products by persons under 18 years of age. Trustees began the discussion during an April meeting

It will consider adopting Ordinance No. 11, Series 2023 [entitled “An ordinance of the town of Buena Vista, Colorado adding a new section 10-258 to the Buena Vista Municipal Code concerning the possession of Tobacco Products by persons under 18 years of age.”

The Trustees will move on to review a draft amendment regarding special events in public spaces. The amendment if approved would adjust Chapter II, Article VII, Special Events in Public Spaces, a section of the town’s municipal code.

The Board will hear an update on the county development known as Alpine West and will consider giving direction on providing water service to the development.

The Board of Trustee meetings are held at the Community Center located at 715 E. Main Street in Buena Vista and are open to the public. Staff and the Public are encouraged to attend the meeting virtually or to participate in Public
