The Buena Vista Board of Trustees are scheduled to meet tonight, June 11, at 7 p.m. at the Buena Vista Community Center, 715 E. Main Street. Trustees will be given an update by Envision Chaffee County’s Cindy Williams and Kim Marquis regarding progress on Chaffee Common Ground, as well as an update on wildlife mitigation efforts throughout Chaffee County.

Common Ground, which was approved by voters last fall, is a conservation funding measure operated by the county. Chaffee Common Ground aims to accomplish three specific goals: to strengthen forest health; conserve and support working ranches, farms and landscapes; and manage the impacts of growth in Chaffee County.

The Board of Trustees will also consider a resolution designating The Jail House as a historic structure.
The Jail House, located at 412 E. Main Street, is a popular craft-beer and wine bar downtown Buena Vista. In the 1880s, the Town of Buena Vista converted the building into a temporary jail. Owners Sarah and Shane Steward moved to Buena Vista in 2015 and opened The Jail House shortly after.
