The Buena Vista Board of Trustees will hold their regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, in the Buena Vista Community Center. On the agenda: a review of the town’s First Quarter Financial Report, a vote on Midland Hill Trail Construction and consideration of an agreement with Trail Construction Company.

Buena Vista Town Treasurer, Michelle Stokes, will review a report detailing the results of the first quarter of the 2019 fiscal year. Stokes’ report will analyze sales tax revenue through February 2019, fund balance reports and budget reports for all departments.

The town treasurer is subject to quarterly reports due to the Board of Trustee’s Policy Governance approach. This approach facilitates discussion between the treasury department and the Board of Trustees regarding quarterly financial results in conjunction with the approved budget. The next quarterly report is scheduled for July 23, 2019.

The Board will consider approving a grant agreement with Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). The Town of Buena Vista received the grant from CPW to construct new, agency-approved trails in the Midland Hill area. The grant also applies to restoration projects in the same area.

Trustees will also consider an agreement with Tony Boone Trails to design and construct more than two miles of the “Bacon Bits to Midland Trail.” The Buena Vista Recreation Department assembled a committee to assess each of the three bids the town received for the project. After the committee reviewed and ranked each of the three bids, Recreation Director Earl Richmond said they recommended awarding the contract to Tony Boone Trails.

Tony Boone Trails, based in Salida, bid the project at $46,305. Per the committee and Richmond, Tony Boone Trails has completed more than 400 trail projects both domestically and internationally.
