The Buena Vista Board of Trustees (BOT) will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. this Tuesday, February 14 in the Pinon Room of the BV Community Center.

As is customary, the meeting will open with the opportunity for public comment. Those who would like to participate are asked to complete a sign-up list located at the welcome desk as you enter the Community Center.

Moving into the general business items, the BOT will revisit the consideration of a franchise agreement with Sangre De Cristo Electric Association to furnish, sell, and distribute electricity to the town and all residents of Buena Vista.

If approved it would repeal and replace Ordinance 4-1997, codified as Chapter 5, Article II of the BV Municipal Code.

Next, BV Police Chief Morgan, Sergeant Cortese, and Chaffee County Sheriff Spezze will discuss the possibility of purchasing a Tactical Team vehicle.

Public Works Director Shawn Williams is then scheduled to ask the BOT to approve an agreement between the Town of BV and Sangre De Cristo Electric Association to complete the electrical work on Well Three.

Water is on the meeting agenda. The BOT will hear staff comments about public opinion regarding the approval of the Town of BV’s water dedication and allocation policy. It will also discuss the approval of and participation in a countywide groundwater study. This would include approval of a Letter of Support and a $5,000 cash match for the study.

Under general administrative items, the BOT will discuss the format by which performance evaluations will be conducted for the roles of Town Administrator, Town Treasurer, Town Clerk, Town Attorney, and Municipal Judge. It will also consider changing the date of the July 25, 2023 trustee meeting to Thursday, July 27, 23 due to some scheduling conflicts.

The BOT will conduct a public hearing regarding the approval of a hotel and liquor license for DCB Café BV LLC doing business as Cool River BV.

After the scheduled business items are concluded, the meeting will move on to staff reports from the Town Administrator, Public Works Director, and Fire Chief.

The BOT meeting is open to the public and the BOT packet can be found here.
