The Buena Vista (BV) Board of Education (BOE) will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 12 at 113 North Court Street to discuss policy GP 13 Board Bylaws, specifically regarding public participation and board expenses, and the interpretation of GP 11 Board Member Conflict of Interest.

School principals will present to the Board regarding the “Critically Competent” aspect of the 7 C’s.

According to the district’s website, critically competent students are “skilled at processing and applying information and ideas by being competent in district BV Essentials; using specific thinking strategies, to learn and make meaning; engaging in a cycle of rational thought to inquire, investigate, reason, and solve problems.”

  • Board reports on the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), the District Accountability Committee (DAC), the Elementary/Preschool Campus Committee, and member correspondence

Monitoring reports will focus on Administrative Policies Section G regarding personnel, El 4 on staff and professional learning, and GP 8 about agenda planning.

The consent agenda for the meeting includes the usual approval of contracts and notification of employment or resignation and retirement alongside the January monthly reconciliation, investment, and expense reports.

According to the agenda, “The Board of Education will move into Executive Session for reasons allowable pursuant C.R.S. § 24-6-402(4)(h)(to discuss an individual student case of expulsion as required by policy JKD-JKE).”

The Board will reconvene for the board evaluation and unfinished business before adjourning.

The next meeting of the BV BOE is set to begin with a study session at 5:00 p.m. and the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 26.
