After a year’s hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BV Strong is back to celebrate its eighth year as a beloved community tradition. This year the community dinner that stretches the length of East Main St. will be held from 5:30 p.m. t0 7:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20.

In a year as divisive and fraught with anxiety as the past year has been, the simple message of BV Strong, that it is “Just Dinner,” is a welcome one.

Organizers say that it strives to create a locally-funded and locally-organized annual activity “where the residents of Buena Vista come together in a nonpolitical, noncommercial, non-promotional event to share food and friendship as we celebrate and nurture a sense of community”.

The BV Strong event has become epic in size: the last one seated 3,600 neighbors at 450 tables.

“Thanks to everyone’s efforts to keep our community safe, we are stronger than ever,” say BV Strong organizers.  That said, they caution the community that ” We have learned to hold our plans loosely, but we are proceeding with the 8th Annual BV Strong Community Dinner”.

To put on such a large community event, the community needs an epic number of volunteers to set up before dinner and tear down after the event. If you haven’t already signed up to volunteer, you have until Sept. 13 to do so. Just go to the BV Strong website at: https://www.bvstrong.com/ and click on the “help” button.

Table reservations are also now available at www.bvstrong.com/#host.  Those signing up to host a table, will receive a confirmation email (check your spam or junk folders for that message). Contact bvstrongcommunitydinner@gmail.com if you have any questions about your reservation.
As always, tax-deductible donations to support the community are always welcome and very much appreciated.
