The Buena Vista High School (BVHS) Band students are using Buena Vista’s vibrant summer season and myriad activities to raise money for their next band trip in spring 2020.

“The Buena Vista High School Band is currently raising money for a trip to southern California in March 2020,” said the Band Boosters President, Jennifer Wertz. “We are in the scheduling phase with Disneyland and hope to have specific trip dates in the next few weeks.”

Wertz estimates the cost at around $1,500 per student.

During their trip, the BVHS Band will perform in Disneyland and attend a performance by the Los Angeles Philarmonic.

In order to raise the necessary funds, band students and their families are operating a concession stand at the Buena Vista softball field during games.

The concession is open for all the girls’ softball games on Monday nights through mid-July. The concession stand is also open on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the adult co-ed league.

“The concessions stand offers various candy, chips, cookies, trail mix, pop and water for $1.00. We also have Gatorade for $1.50,” said Wertz.

For those who can’t make it to the softball field to support the band, consider heading to the Mountain Mania Car Show on Saturday, June 29. Band students will be selling water bottles during that event.

The weather forecasts call for temperatures over 80 degrees that day, so bringing a dollar or two for a cool drink would help support the BVHS Band’s fundraising effort.

The BVHS Band will also be present during the 4th of July festivities in Buena Vista. They will perform on a parade float during the annual Buena Vista 4th of July parade.

Band students will be conducting a bake sale during the parade. It will be stationed next to the Parade announcer’s booth. It is a donation-only bake sale and all the proceeds will go towards sending band students on the trip.
