Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Wednesday, March 14, that Nate Solder of Buena Vista is expected to sign a four-year contract with the New York Giants worth $62 million that includes $34.9 million guaranteed. The deal will make the local legend the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL.

The last time he signed a contract, Solder accepted less money than other teams offered so that he could stay with the New England Patriots. But this time, with two Super Bowl rings, the 29-year-old left tackle is taking the money.

Solder played for Buena Vista High School and the University of Colorado Buffaloes. Since being drafted No. 17 overall in 2011, Solder has been one of the most consistent left tackles in the league, ranking 14 on the NFL.com’s Top 101 Free Agents of 2018.

For seven seasons Solder protected future hall-of-famer Tom Brady’s blind side, starting 95 games and contributing to two Super Bowl victories. He provides a significant upgrade to a Giants offensive line that struggled in 2017.
