It’s time to get your floats together because the historic FIBArk Parade is officially back for 2022  This year’s parade will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18 on F Street in downtown Salida.

The theme of the 2022 parade is “Back to the Future,” and FIBArk is excited to see what the community comes up with to celebrate the history of this event and its vision of the future of FIBArk, Salida, and our whitewater community.

With the summer pedestrian zone setup in place on F Street again this year, the parade has a few zig-zags that should only add to the festivity’s reach.

The parade will begin at the intersection of F Street and 6th Street, and will travel to 2nd Street (the half-block of F Street between 3rd and 2nd, currently closed as part of the pedestrian zone, will be open for this event).

At 2nd Street, all participants are invited to join the parade leaders, FIBArk Commodores, and special guests for a “Second Line-style” foot parade through the downtown pedestrian zone and into Riverside Park. All vehicles will be asked to turn right (east) on 2nd Street after unloading participants for the foot parade.

The Sunrise Rotary Club promoted its Lucky Duck Race during the 2019 parade. AVV file photo.

FIBArk is looking for any and all organizations interested in being part of this exciting event to register for the parade as soon as possible via their website at www.fibark.com/parade. All types of participants and floats are welcome, including vehicle or trailer floats, walking groups, bicycles, Hooligan crafts, and everything in between.

The FIBArk Board of Directors says it would especially like to thank the City of Salida, the businesses on F Street, and the local neighbors who will graciously sacrifice their parking on Saturday morning in order to make this event happen.
