The 2022 Midterm Election processes are proceeding as scheduled in Chaffee County. Signature judges and ballot extraction judges start at 1:00 p.m. today at the Chaffee County Courthouse. Tabulation begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.

On Monday, 688 mail ballots were returned, for a total of 4,172 ballots cast in Chaffee County to date. There was one in-person voter. The voter response rate for Chaffee County stands at 26.6 percent.

Monday was also the last day to mail ballots out. “We mailed out a whopping 86 ballots,” said Chaffee Clerk and Recorder Lori Mitchell. She explained that from today onward, voters can visit a Vote Center or come to the Election Office to get a ballot.

With her typical sense of humor, Mitchell added this note to her daily election report to the news media: “World Series is rained out. Deer ate our carved pumpkins. But we will still stay positive. Lift everyone up around us. Help our citizens vote. Our Election Judges are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.¬† Our Deputy County Clerks are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.”
