The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) has a full day of meetings on Tuesday, May 3. It is scheduled to continue the public hearing to review the BlueTriton’s Annual Report and Compliance with the 1041 permit at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3. The session is continued from April 19 and will include a review of comments received since Public Comment closed on April 19, deliberation, and a decision on whether or not to accept the report.

Among the other orders of business for the May 3 BoCC session that begins at 9:00 a.m. is an update on the “Renewal 2022” Special Event Application. A draft of Resolution 2022-31, documenting the agreement is planned for review.

As presented during an April 11 hearing, the Bonfire Entertainment bluegrass music special event is proposed for Sept. 24-25, 2022 (with a visitor load-in the night before the event starts to spread out traffic).

The BoCC gave their tentative approval for the special event permit during their earlier public hearing, on the condition that a mutually-agreeable resolution could be developed, and set a progress report regarding the resolution for May 3.

Two subdivision proposals are on the schedule for review:

  • The True Heritage Water Subdivision Exemption at 16280 County Road 350, Buena Vista would subdivide 4.9 acres zoned residential, into two lots with the minimum being 2.0 acres. The property has a portion of the abandoned leach field and septic tanks from the Sleeping Indian Trailer Park and building envelopes which will avoid this area.
  • The  Cogan Farms Agricultural Subdivision Exemption by Cogan Farms LLC is located at 12403 Highway 285, Nathrop. The proposal would subdivide 191.87 acres, zoned rural, into two lots with the minimum being 2.9 acres.  Wells and on-site wastewater treatment systems will serve the property. This application was previously withdrawn to confirm the water right and resubmitted after construction of the well.

The BoCC will consider a request from Chaffee Housing Trust for a Building Permit Fee Waiver, and Approve Resolution 2022-36 Filling a Vacancy on the METAB Board; appointing Daryn Ridenour to the Marijuana Excise Tax Advisory Board as the designated representative of a marijuana cultivation facility subject to the Chaffee County excise tax, as per Resolution 2017-46.

Between the morning session and the 1:00 p.m. BlueTriton public hearing, the BoCC will adjourn to executive session with an agenda to consider specific legal questions pertaining to budgetary questions for elected offices.

While the BoCC has returned to post-COVID in-person meetings, all county board meetings are available via ZOOM.  For Board of Commissioner Meetings you may join meetings at Join Meeting (ID# 109 079 543).  For dial-in information, click here.
