The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) has a lengthy agenda for its Tuesday, December 6 regular meeting including contracts and an extensive consent agenda.

Tucked into the agenda items was the one-sentence announcement of the pending retirement of the Director of General Administration Bob Christiansen, ending with an executive session to discuss employment matters; no doubt focused on the next steps in filling some big administrative shoes.

Regular business items include:

  • Consideration of Resolution 2022-79 approving a partnership with Colorado Mountain College in applying for and distributing the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) Matching Funds Scholarship 2022-23 Allocation.
  • Review of a request by Andrew Marks to allow the installation of a commercial OWTS vault at 9255 County Road 140, Hangar C. The Board of County Commissioners requires a variance for systems that can either not support a Soil Treatment Area or the Municipality does not allow the Soil Treatment Area. In this case, BOCC does not allow a STA at the Salida Airport.
  •  Four lot line elimination requests: the Hecht lot Line elimination located at 22665 Indiana Ave., Garfield Townsite, the  Ponikvar lot line elimination at  16530 Mt. Princeton Rd., Buena Vista, the Kirsch lot line elimination at 22777 CR 292, Nathrop, and the Campbell lot line elimination at 22545 Barnhill St., Garfield Townsite.
  • The BoCC will end with the Shively Boundary Line Adjustment located at 10250 Piute Drive and vacant parcel 3681-204-00-148, Salida. The request would adjust boundary lines on two lots in Pinon Hills Subdivision: Lot 111 will decrease from 1.278 acres to 1.236 acres, and Lot 112-A will increase from 1.238 acre

Review of the Brinkmann Heritage Water Subdivision Exemption located on a rural-zoned 25.89 acre parcel has been continued to January 3, 2023, at the applicant’s request. The request would subdivide the property into two lots with the minimum being 7.89 acres.  Wells and on-site wastewater treatment systems will serve the property.
