The Chaffee BoCC meets in regular session beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14 in the Commissioner’s meeting room at 104 Crestone Avenue, Salida. The first item on their regular agenda will be to consider for approval the Land Use Code Text Amendment from the Planning Commission related to the Heritage Water Subdivision Exemption portion of Chaffee County Land Use Code (Section 5.2.3.K)

The BoCC had planned to move on to consider the March 7 recommendation from the Chaffee Planning Commission of the Land Use Code Text Amendment Regarding WUI, but the Planning Commission has requested to continue this to BoCC April 4, 2023 agenda.

The BoCC plans to review for Approval the contractor and budget for the repair work to the Granite Bridge. This project has been carefully planned and budgeted for several years and will bring the bridge up to safety code.

Approval of Resolution 2023-27 is on the agenda and if approved the county’s “Secure Transportation Licensing and Permitting Regulations” for emergency vehicles and services to transport patients between their homes, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, and Front Range medical facilities. The resolution directs EMS Director Josh Hadley and Chaffee County Legal to create all the applicable forms and procedures that will be consistent with regulations.

At the moment, the meeting is scheduled to conclude with an Executive Session Under 24-6-402(4)(b) for purposes of receiving legal advice on specific legal questions and strategy involving land use code enforcement. There have been cases of residents and short-term rental property owners violating county land use code, and then choosing to ignore county directions to bring their properties to land use code standards.

An agenda item that would have had the BoCC convene in its role as the Board of Health has been continued to April 4 because the applicant did not meet signage posting timeframes. The applicant Dale Billeaudeaux for Billeaudeaux, LLC has asked the BoCC to consider a variance to the Chaffee County Water Supply Standards for a rurally-zoned parcel at 16035 Jay Bird Lane, Buena Vista. They would like the county to allow a water cistern for the provision of a potable water supply for a residence, instead of a well.
