Volunteers with Chaffee Recreation Adopters worked with Chaffee County Fire Protection District and Chaffee Recreation Rangers to clean up 160 campsites in the Browns Creek Recreation Area, removing more than 2,000 pounds of ashes and trash on Monday, May 16, 2022.

The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) will meet in regular session beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, in the Buena Vista Community Center. Among the items on their agenda is the finalizing of documents for the Summer 2023 Recreation Rangers Program and review of a contract for the rehabilitation, renovation, and preservation of the Valley View School House.

After their consent agenda of items that have not received feedback (nor is any additional public feedback expected), the BoCC will move into its regular agenda. It will hold a public hearing and consider approval of the Spiral Run Drive Special Event Application- fee waiver. The run is scheduled for April 23, 2023

it will then give direction to county legal staff  to finalize the documents for the Chaffee Recreation Rangers Program focused on their partners, including:

  1. The Agreement Between Chaffee County And Colorado Parks And Wildlife, Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area,
  2. The Collection Agreement Between Chaffee County and the U.S. Dept. Of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service Pike and San Isabel National Forests Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands (PSICC) Salida and Leadville Ranger Districts
  3. Consider signing the letter of agreement with the Bureau Of Land Management for the Recreation Rangers Program.

The BoCC will move on to consideration of a construction contract with Deep Root Timberworks, LLC, A Colorado Limited Liability Company, D/B/A Deep Roots Craftsmen for the rehabilitation, renovation, and preservation of the Valley View School House, located at 9051 County Rd. 140, Salida.

It will consider acceptance of the Cottonwood Pass Right of Way at the top of CR 306, and then move into Executive Session under 24-6-402(4)(b) for purposes of receiving legal advice on specific legal questions and strategy involving land use code enforcement and potential land use litigation.
