The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) has a busy beginning to this week. Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. it scheduled a special meeting to go into executive session to discuss potential litigation matters pursuant to C.R.S. § 24-6-402(4)(b).
Beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, it has a regularly-scheduled BoCC meeting in Buena Vista at the Community Center located at 715 East Main Street. On the agenda; consideration of a quitclaim deed shifting ownership of the property known as the “Buena Vista Rodeo Grounds” to the town of Buena Vista, and approval of Resolution 2023-31 laying out the Transfer of Rodeo Grounds Property to the town of Buena Vista.
At 10:30 a.m. the BoCC will consider a special event permit for Renewal 2023, produced by Bonfire Entertainment, to be held September 21-23, 2023 at the Meadows Farm, 14822 County Road 350, Buena Vista. The event is proposed for 7,500 spectators. As in the past years, the event includes amplified sound and a liquor license.
Among other business items, the BoCC will receive an update from the Planning Department on short-term rental licenses and renewals, an update on the hiring of a Chaffee Housing Authority Director of Housing, and get an update on the preparation of an electric vehicle (EV) readiness grant through the Colorado Energy Office. It will also discuss authorizing the County Attorney to pursue legal action against Monarch Lodge, located at 22720 West Hwy 50 and its owner Hotel Finance Partners Inc.
The regular agenda also includes discussion regarding developing a letter of support for the USGS groundwater study that the county is planning to complete and consideration of a Notice of Award decision on the Poncha Pass Fuels Mitigation Project.
The BoCC will get an update on the hiring process for a new county administrator. Having announced the lone finalist for the position a week ago, the county is officially in the two-week waiting period before doing the final negotiations.
During the meeting, the BoCC will issue a proclamation declaring that the week of April 3-9 is officially National Public Health Week in Chaffee County.
The Tuesday, March 21 BoCC meeting is open to the public, either in person or via this Zoom link.
