Beginning with the 9:00 a.m. Monday, April 4 work session of the Chaffee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC), public county meetings will be convened in person and virtually. This marks the county’s shift back to normal schedules after two years of pandemic scheduling that began in March 2020.

The work session will include a recap of progress by the Chaffee Housing Authority, and later in the agenda a presentation and discussion about a potential ballot measure (Housing Authority Board and Ad Hoc Committee lead, Becky Gray) that may divert tourism marketing funds toward affordable housing now that HB22-1117 has been signed into law.

This will be followed by the Planning and Engineering department reports and an update on the Chaffee County Fairgrounds and the County Fair itself. Commissioners will also discuss a GARNA/AHRA request for waiver of landfill dump fees for the spring Clean-Up, Green-Up event.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. the Region 5 Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Representative  Jamie Grim will do an update on planned transportation projects, followed by an overview of the Dark Sky Initiative presented to other county municipalities by Dani Robben of San Luis Valley Great Outdoors (SLV GO!).

A follow-up discussion may include a county decision on observing the April 22-30 International Dark Sky Week.

Also on the afternoon agenda will be a BoCC discussion of extending the county’s temporary moratorium on the submission, acceptance, or processing of applications for road and alley vacations in the townsite of Nathrop pending consideration of a Comprehensive Transportation Plan. Commissioners will wrap up their work session with a discussion of the BlueTriton Brand Reconciliation Report on Philanthropic Contribution.
