At 3:30 p.m. on June 5 the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a Burglary In-Progress at a private residence on County Road 120 approximately 2 miles west of Salida.
According to the homeowner he was out of town but was watching an unknown male inside his home while viewing his home security system.
Both the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the Salida Police Department responded to the residence. Salida Police Officers were the first to arrive and contacted a male walking down the driveway of the home who matched the description the homeowner provided. The male was subsequently arrested.
The suspect was identified as Parker A. Smith, age 32, from Yosemite, California.
Smith was transported to the Chaffee County Detention Facility where he was charged with the following:
1. First Degree Burglary, Class 3 Felony
2. Criminal Mischief, Class 3 Misdemeanor
3. Theft, class unknown to values of items still pending.
