The Chaffee Board of County Commissioners is set to hold its Tuesday, Oct. 15 regular meeting at the Buena Vista Heritage Museum at 506 E. Main St. The session will begin at 9 a.m., with the first item on the agenda to consider the extension of the county’s Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency related to the Decker Fire. The agreement covers the county’s operations and agreements associated with the operation of the Type 1 federal response to the fire, being managed from an incident command base set up at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.

A public hearing on the Nestle Waters North America 1041 permit, which had been scheduled for BoCC review, has apparently been postponed to Nov. 19.

Two information-based presentations related to forest and water health are on the agenda. Commissioner Greg Felt will present an update on the Monarch Pass Forest and Watershed Health project. Commissioner Keith Baker will explain the Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Management Grant Program.

Tucked on the end of the agenda is a review of the cost-sharing proposal between Chaffee, Custer, Fremont and Park counties for the proposed 2020 District Attorney’s office.

Commissioners will hold a public hearing related to a fee waiver request from the Chaffee County Running Club for the Two Turkey Relay, and another public hearing for a boundary line adjustment between two adjacent properties located at 16274 and 16275 CR 350, Buena Vista.

Also on the agenda, a resolution approving the Williamson Minor Subdivision, and a request by Salida Recreation for the use of the main building at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds for a Youth Gymnastics program during November and December, at a discounted rate. Salida Recreation will also present a request for a letter of support for a GOCO (Great Outdoors Colorado) grant in conjunction with the Friends of Salida Skateparks for improvements to a new skatepark.

The Guidestone Colorado group has made a $10,000 request for financial support for the expansion of the Hutchinson Homestead and Learning Center. Executive Director Andrea Coen will present the request.
