Chaffee community members donated more than $119,000 to local nonprofits yesterday in just 24 hours. This was a record-breaking number in the county for Colorado Gives Day, held this year on December 8.
This year 31 Chaffee nonprofit organizations had a presence on the platform with a 19 percent increase in participation compared to Colorado Gives Day 2019. Nine smaller or startup nonprofits shared space on the Chaffee County Community Foundation donation page, offering donors a chance to learn about and support these up-and-comers. All the organizations received a total of 713 donations totaling $119,552, a 79 percent increase over the prior year. The record-breaking 2020 CO Gives Day represents a huge success for Chaffee County as well as its nonprofits, especially given the impact of the pandemic, helping them to ride this out and provide needed services.

This is the second year that the Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF) served as Chaffee’s Regional Champion by running the ChaffeeGives Campaign, a marketing effort that elevated the profile of local nonprofits and encouraged local organizations to participate. Donors could easily find Chaffee nonprofits on ChaffeeGives.org instead of searching through thousands of nonprofits across Colorado to find their favorites.
The county’s giving surge reflected a statewide increase on Colorado Gives Day. Throughout Colorado, $50 million was donated to 2,848 nonprofit organizations. Every donation will also receive a portion of the million-dollar matching fund that was donated by FirstBank.
“The generosity on display this ChaffeeGives day was truly inspiring. We all need inspiration this year, and donors came through in huge ways. Philanthropy is powerful, and we here at CCCF are honored to be a part of promoting the incredible organizations that make Chaffee a special place to live all year round,” CCCF Executive Director Joseph Teipel said.
