Chaffee County Public Health

Chaffee County Public Health released a COVID-19 vaccine update on December 22. CCPH acknowledged that the past few days have been exciting in regard to the COVID-19 vaccine being in its first phase of distribution in Chaffee County.

CCPH thanked Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center for being the entity to begin the vaccine distribution project, which was received by some of the county’s frontline healthcare workers. Countywide distribution phases are in place and these phases are designed to save as many lives as possible by vaccinating high-risk essential healthcare workers first.

Registered Nurse Terry Wait gives a thumbs up after her vaccine shot at CCPH.

Next to receive will be those who are most at risk of getting severely sick or even dying from COVID-19. As the vaccine’s availability is limited at this current point in time, CCPH expects it will take several months until the vaccine is accessible to everyone. CCPH wants everyone to know that they are working quickly on next steps for the community and that cost will not be an obstacle to getting the vaccine.

Through their vaccine clinics, Chaffee residents will have access to free vaccines. CCPH will continue to work with the local medical community to identify the highest and then higher-risk individuals. When the time arrives, communications will be sent to those next in line. CCPH thanks the community for its patience.
