The Chaffee County Democrats’ September meeting will present information on state and county ballot initiatives. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the First Presbyterian Church, 7 Poncha Blvd., Salida.

Chief Robert Bertram, Chaffee County Fire Protection District, will make a presentation on Ballot Issue A involving stable funding for fire protection in Chaffee County.

Cindy Williams will discuss Ballot Issue B, which involves funding conservation measures with a 0.25-percent increase in sales tax.

Commissioner Keith Baker will be present to explain the benefits of Chaffee County opting out of Senate Bill 152 by supporting Issue C and allowing county government to support high-speed internet access for citizens.

Also on the program are Constitutional Amendment 73, Great Schools, Thriving Communities; and State Referendums Y & Z, Fair Maps Colorado, an initiative to redraw district boundaries more representatively (not gerrymandered).

Following each 10-minute presentation, five minutes will be allowed for questions from the audience. The public is invited.

A short business meeting for registered Democrats will follow the presentations.
