Due to the concerning surge in COVID-19 cases and therefore transmission throughout the state of Colorado and in Chaffee County, additional testing sites will be available on the next two Sundays, November 14 and 21 hosted by Chaffee County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the main EMS building located at 10364 County Road 120, Salida, CO 81201.

THE EMS location on the south end of the county is near the Chaffee Fairgrounds. AVV file photo.

These clinics will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. by appointment only.

To secure an appointment using the online scheduler, go to: https://forms.gle/JfUgXnoG7q24MhmU6. A rapid antigen test will be available for those who are symptomatic or have had close contact with a positive case only. EMS may use clinical discretion and use a follow-up confirmatory NAAT test.

Chaffee County Public Health and Chaffee Emergency Medical Service asks that residents do not show up to this testing event to get tested for travel or for regular testing for work. This extra site is not intended for those purposes. This free test will hopefully detect positive cases before the school and business work week begins and its purpose is to slow the spread of the virus in the county.

If the Sunday testing clinics are successful, Chaffee County Public Health (CCPH) will work with EMS to continue this additional free testing clinic and expand it to provide greater testing coverage in the county.

The public is required to wear a mask and follow traffic control at this drive-through clinic. A full list of COVID-19 testing options can be found on CCPH’s COVID-19 website at: https://www.chaffeecounty.org/Public-Health-Coronavirus.
