The Chaffee Housing Authority (CHA) is seeking community input at a pop-up exhibit located in The Lobby at the Palace Hotel at 204 North F Street in Salida. The exhibit is timely, as there will be a question on the 2022 General Election ballot for Chaffee County asking whether the community is willing to fund workforce housing solutions.

The installation, designed and created by CivicBrand, illustrates the housing crisis our community is facing through data and stories, demonstrates a possible future for our community should we take no action, and outlines the Chaffee Housing Authority’s Strategic Plan.  At the center of this effort is an opportunity to engage in community budgeting and tenant prioritization policies.

Guests are invited to visit the pop-up exhibit, learn more from the displays, discuss insights with one another, and use the tablets provided onsite to offer input on CHAs future budgeting priorities, including rental subsidies, housing development, and operations, as well as advocacy.

Guests can also address an alternate scenario; one where they must fill a limited number of housing units with tenants from a very full waiting list. But the catch is they have to prioritize who would get the housing: households with children, the local workforce, households containing older adults, or people who are experiencing homelessness, are among the options.

The pop-up shop will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from now through October 14, 2022.
