The Chaffee Housing Trust (CHT) and the residents of Two Rivers are hosting a barbecue and open house this Saturday, June 22, from 12 noon to 3 p.m., to celebrate the opening of the Old Stage Road Rowhouses at Two Rivers.
Food and drink will be provided and visitors will have the chance to speak with the residents to hear their stories.
The CHT is a non-profit organization that works to provide affordable housing for families and individuals in Chaffee County. The program serves those who have an income at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). With homes starting at less than $175,000, the Chaffee Housing Trust is making a difference for the workforce by offering an affordable solution to the housing crisis in Chaffee County.

The CHT also offers comprehensive counseling and walk-through programs for individuals buying a home for the first time. The CHT helps buyers clean up their credit, apply for a loan and handle the logistics and details of purchasing a home. These services are offered at no additional cost.
Organizers of the event say they welcome the public to head down to the Two Rivers development on Saturday to join the CHT and residents of the development in celebrating affordable housing in Salida.
The Two Rivers development is located just off U.S 50 on the southern end of Salida.
To get there from Downtown Salida: head southeast on 1st Street (it will change into Oak Street). Turn left on Old Stage Road just before U.S. 50.
To get there from U.S. 50: head east on U.S. 50, turn left on CO 291/Oak Street, and then immediately turn right on Old Stage Road.
