The Chaffee Patriots have announced that their March Town Hall will feature the Buena Vista School District. The town hall is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 10 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Hall located at 118 South Gunnison Avenue, Buena Vista.
The program will feature Buena Vista School District Superintendent Lisa Yates, along with some school board members and school administrators. According to the Chaffee Patriots, “hot topics in education will include: sex education in our schools, critical race theory, school budget, COVID, curriculum, and more.”
Never mind that critical race theory isn’t taught in schools below university graduate level courses, much of the public school curriculum is based on common core requirements, and Buena Vista School District has a balanced approach to teaching sex ed, including allowing parents to weigh in on whether their students are involved. What the “and more” is, isn’t known.
Also on their agenda, they announced a flag waving on the corner of Main Street and U.S. 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday, March 11.
Let them have their little meeting. They just want to feel important, and there’s really no harm in it, until they start trying to force their goofy beliefs on the rest of us, which is probably just a matter of time.
