The first public hearing on the very first section of the new Chaffee County’s Land Use Code (LUC) Update is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2.

This first review of what is known as Module 1, will be a mark-up of the changes to the current land use code as recommended by Logan Simpson, the third-party firm hired to develop the new LUC.

This first module will cover adjustments to the language related to land use applications and site plan reviews, special event permits, right-of-way vacations, the wildland-urban interface, accessory dwelling units, private land camping, short-term rentals, special event facilities, and Bed and Breakfasts. It should be noted that the Planning Commission is the recommending body, not the approval body for the LUC update. Final approval rests with the Chaffee Board of County Commissioners.

The session will be held both in person in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the county administration building located at 104 Crestone Avenue, as well as on Zoom  (ID# 423 829 0633).
