In response to the social media chatter regarding groups and persons intent on disruption not just of the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, but in disrupting government operations across the country, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office, is adding additional resources to normal staffing on Inauguration Day.

The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office says that it is “not aware of any credible threat towards our critical assets or our citizens. We do however continue to monitor numerous sources including statewide public safety outlets to stay updated on any changes that may occur.”
In fact, the communication from the Sheriff’s Office went on to say that their “visibility at county critical assets as well as to provide an added layer of safety at these locations”, is intentional.”
They say that while “we anticipate no disruption to governmental services; however, we have prepared ourselves in an unlikely event. We are continuing to work closely with our local LE [law enforcement] partners and elected officials on this matter.”
