A few days ago, the Ark Valley Voice giving campaign we call “Christmas in July” hit the $2,000 donation mark, meaning we’ve reached 20 percent of our $10,000 donation goal during the month of July.  This is wonderful, but of course, we have 80 percent more to go before the end of July. We are both grateful and hopeful.

Every penny we raise in donations goes toward the salaries of our working journalists which, since the pandemic, we need more than ever. Here at Ark Valley Voice, our motto is our mission; that truth should have a voice. Sometimes the truth is inconvenient, but fact-based reporting is what guards our democracy.

Our journalists live and work here in Chaffee County. We cover breaking and local news, 7 days a week and bring a Chaffee County perspective to regional and national affairs, while ensuring the transparency of our local governments. We connect our readers to the range of issues that are important to our quality of life; education, housing, climate change, drought, and water use. Beyond these topics, we bring important information on wildfires, the use (and overuse) of public lands, and (this past year especially), threats to health and public safety.

Our reporters are dedicated, curious, and courageous.  We have remained a free publication so that those who might least be able to afford subscriptions have access to truthful reporting. But to be honest, we could use a little help.

Even if you’ve never donated before, would you please consider making a one-time donation, or a monthly contribution to help us continue to achieve the mission?

Our readership extends far beyond residents of the Arkansas Valley now – so even if you have just visited us, camped here, rafted here, shopped here, explored our beautiful valley or have seen this place that we report on, please think of us as your advocate for this valley and the river, and peaks, and gorgeous vistas we share.

Thank you,

The Crew of Ark Valley Voice
