The inaugural Christmas Mountain Five Mile Run is scheduled for Friday, November 26 in Salida.  The race begins at 10:00 a.m. giving participants time to sleep in after the big Thanksgiving meal, run, and then relax with friends and family before heading back to downtown Salida for the Parade of Lights and the lighting of Christmas Mountain.

The course begins and ends by Riverside Park in downtown Salida. The racecourse is scenic, flat, and takes place on roads and gravel or concrete pedestrian paths. Packet pickup, post-race drinks and snacks, and awards will also take place in Riverside Park in downtown Salida.

Prize money will be offered to the top three W/F overall, along with the first place M/F master’s runner. The top three in each age group will also be awarded prizes.

The goals of this event are to encourage health, fitness, fun, and community connection around the Thanksgiving holiday; to offer another competitive racing opportunity in Chaffee County; and to raise money during the holiday season for the Chaffee County Community Foundation.

Donations received through the race registration process will go directly to CCCF’s Emergency Response Fund.  Registration is now open, and runners of all ages and abilities are encouraged to enter. Registration prices increase on November 12.  Race day registration will be available, although runners are encouraged to register online ahead of race day.
