Family and Youth Initiatives (FYI) is the prevention division within Chaffee County Department of Human Services. It focuses on providing evidence-based prevention resources for children, youth and families in Chaffee County. The emphasis of the FYI’s programs is focused on reducing risky behavior, encouraging healthy behaviors to build a strong community.

Tickets to the event are $20 per person at the door and all funds go to support youth programming work across the county. Or for those wanting to reserve early and pay online, go to www.chaffeecountyfyi.org, click on the “Donate” button and put in $20 for each ticket you are purchasing. Your tickets will be held for you at the door.

The Chaffee FYI program is recognized as a community leader in prevention and family support services. Funding for its important work with Chaffee County youth is cobbled together through a variety of sources including multiple government grants, foundation donations, the Chaffee County Department of Human Services (DHS), and generous community support. It functions under the overall direction of the Director of Human Services, and all FYI staff are employees of the county.

The history of the FYI effort begins in 2006 when Build A Generation and the Community Prevention Policy Boards founded Family and Youth Initiatives. Through an in-depth community assessment and strategic planning process, BAG spearheaded co-locating several existing local programs and services under one roof, designed to strengthen, streamline, and coordinate youth resources increase effectiveness and decrease duplication.
