The Clerk and Recorder’s office is responsible for motor vehicle title and registrations, elections, recording public documents, administering county liquor licenses, and acting as Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners. this begins a weekly column designed to make information more readily available to Chaffee County residents and businesses.
Renewing Your Licence Plate or Getting Plates for a New Vehicle
Ready to renew your plate or get plates for a new vehicle? We want to help you in the most efficient and effective way possible. When you call, please have your VIN or Plate number handy. You can find your VIN number on your renewal card, title complete card, previous registration, or even on your Insurance card!
Your plate can be found on your Renewal card and previous year’s registration. We will look up your vehicle by plate or VIN, so please have one of those ready when you call. Didn’t receive your renewal card? That’s not a problem! We can still renew your vehicle without it. Please have your plate number or VIN Number ready and we can take care of it over the phone or you can drop off a check.
Not sure how much you owe? Just give us a call and we can look it up. You are not exempt from late fees if you did not receive your renewal card. It is a friendly reminder, not a bill.
The State expects you to know when your renewal month is. Did you recently change your address? We can help you update your vehicle record to ensure you don’t miss your renewal card delivery! We have to update each vehicle individually as there isn’t a way to change them by your name.
