Diabetologist and Lipidologist Dr. J. Ross Tanner has joined the medical staff at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC). Dr. Tanner specializes in treating and managing the condition of patients with diabetes as well as patients with complex cholesterol issues.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Ross Tanner to our medical staff,” said HRRMC CEO Bob Morasko. “Lipidology and Diabetology are two highly specialized areas of expertise that are rare services offered in rural settings, and we are fortunate to have Dr. Tanner here as a valuable community resource.”

Dr. Tanner, who will be providing care through the Outpatient Pavilion on the main HRRMC campus, became Alaska’s first board-certified lipidologist in 2005. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Texas A&M College of Medicine and Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Dr. Tanner is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine, and by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology in Clinical Lipidology. He practiced medicine and held several clinical teaching positions in Texas, Washington, and Alaska prior to starting his tenure at HRRMC.
