Sportspersons from all over Colorado are invited to join Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s (CPW), Southeast Region Sportsperson’s Caucus from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022. Attendees will hear updates on the allocation of big game hunting licenses, as well as other important topics for hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

“CPW is examining its current big game allocation policies,” says CPW Southeast Region Manager Brett Ackerman. “This caucus discussion will be part of our thorough and comprehensive outreach to stakeholders to determine the path forward.”

Ackerman will also provide an update on CPW’s wolf reintroduction efforts and discuss recent staff changes within the Southeast Region, and CPW biologists will provide updates on aquatics and terrestrial sections. Larry McCormack and Ron Goodrich, delegates to the statewide Sportsperson’s Roundtable for the CPW Southeast Region, will also be featured at the caucus.

Ackerman says the caucus “is a great opportunity for hunters, anglers, trappers, and outdoor enthusiasts to engage with CPW staff as well as our caucus representatives,” and noted that McCormack and Goodrich will carry all positions taken by the Southeast Region caucus to the Statewide Roundtable when important policy decisions and issues are up for debate.

“We want all Colorado residents to have an active voice in how CPW manages wildlife,” Ackerman said.

The virtual caucus will stream live via CPW’s statewide Facebook page, and the caucus agenda is posted on the CPW website.
