The second annual Outdoor Industry Summit is set to take place in Salida, Colorado on September 19, 2022 at the Salida SteamPlant Event Center. The event brings together representatives from across Colorado’s outdoor industry in a single-day conference of educational sessions, breakout discussions, panels, and exhibitors. The conference concludes with outdoor activities and explorations of Salida.
Senior Policy Director of Keystone Policy Center, Earnest House Jr., is the keynote speaker and will kick off the day discussing “Moving Beyond Acknowledgements.”
The Outdoor Industry Summit invites businesses, community organizations, and engaged citizens from across the state to discuss and learn more about stewardship of public lands, sustainable outdoor recreational tourism, business support solutions, and workforce housing. All sessions will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on September 19, 2022 at the Salida SteamPlant Event Center.
The Outdoor Industry Summit is hosted by the Central Mountain Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and supported by a variety of regional and state sponsors including High Country Bank, Chaffee County Visitors Bureau and the Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
Participants will hear from representatives of Mountain Flow, TripOutside, Callosum, San Juan Mountain Guides, Clif Bar, Elevation Outdoors, the Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, CU Boulder, Colorado Mountain College, The Wright, and others.
The Outdoor Industry Summit is the brainchild of Central Mountain SBDC Director, Jamie Billesbach. “Since the pandemic, there has been a rising trend of social entrepreneurism leading a path forward by tapping into all of our entrepreneurial energy to begin to solve community challenges facing our society in the years to come,” said Billesbach. “The Outdoor Industry Summit is an opportunity for the current and future leaders in this space to come forward, collaborate, and inspire the solutions to our most pressing problems.”

Startup Colorado is offering a limited number of scholarships to help cover travel costs for entrepreneurs with limited budgets interested in attending.
